Throwback TV

Objective

Samsung Australia decided to launch its own set of owned and operated channels including a working title of TV Favourites. The channel was to feature a range of older nostalgic television content such as 21 Jump Street, Stingers, LA Heat and Friends. They briefed us to come up with a unique name, brand design, as well as a range of content to promote the channel.

Solution

While the list of titles was broad, covering 80s, 90s and early 00s content across drama, comedy & family TV shows, we focused on our target audience's comfort & familiarity having probably first seen these shows in their youth, and now seeing these titles as a throwback. We also used that theme to create the channel's identity design, accentuating the age of the TV and using sepia inspired tones.

Outcome

The channel launched successfully across all touchpoints including the channel button, a range of homepage banners as well as bumpers and ad slates created to keep viewers engaged so they remain on the channel during the ad breaks.
